Words from Angela

For a month I have been reading and praying through Ephesians. As I am personally growing through Ephesians, my monthly prayer from 2:20-22 shaped into a prayer for the Catawba Valley District.
Lord build the Catawba Valley district on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus as our cornerstone. May we be fitted together, growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom we are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit."

The prayer has become my foundational prayer for our district. I have gathered five others to pray with me. At 7:00 a.m., noon, and 8:30 p.m. this prayer is being lifted up. Our desire is for a spiritual awakening tsunami in all hearts across our district. We are praying for a revival, for the anointing of God to rain down. We pray that the manifold wisdom of God might be made known through the church. We pray that the world will see hope and that lives will be changed. We pray that we will see growth in the body, building itself up in love.
God is doing mighty work through you across our district. Thank you for your committed service. But, there is still much more work to do. We have several tasks force formed preparing to launch plans that will come alongside your ministries. Read more...

Celebrate Angela's Birthday!

I would like to extend a special invitation across the district. I am a member of an app called You can explore your city, build a career, or get creative. You can join a group or develop your group. Some church planters even start their churches on this app. As a member of bible and bagels, the person sends a message on meetup to say, “We will meet at Mike’s bagels Thursday morning at 9:30” and people show up. I am starting a meetup movement across our district. It will be CVmeetup! It will always focus on wellness. So, our first meetup will be on September 12. On this date, I will be celebrating a landmark birthday. It will be my 50th! Celebrate with me at our first CVmeetup. Meet me at 8:30 a.m. at Crowders Mountain State Park for a hike, 522 Park Office Lane, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. I will treat you for lunch afterward, healthy of course!

Making Room

By Kim Shockley
Catawba Valley Church Vitality Strategist
About eight years ago I received a traffic ticket for speeding – yes, I was guilty, and I haven’t had one since! The officer reminded me that if I completed an online traffic school class it would help navigate with my insurance company.  So I completed a course online before the month was out!  This particular class emphasized the need to keep enough space in front of your vehicle so that you would have plenty of stopping space and time if the need arose.  Making room in front of the car also allows good reaction time and a better sense of safety.  I started practicing this technique.  Guess what happened!  Every time I got enough room in front, someone else zoomed into that space and I had to adjust all over again.  To this day, I still find myself adjusting so that I have that comfort level of space in front of my car.  I’m also driving a bright orange Subaru so that I am easily spotted on the road, which also provides some accountability for my lead foot!   Keep reading
